CarbonCert business certification is a complete carbon neutrality solution. We calculate your business's carbon footprint, retire verified carbon credits on your behalf through internationally recognised registries (Verra, Gold Standard, UNFCCC), and provide you with an ISO 14064-aligned certificate, a live trust badge for your website, and a public verification page — all included in every plan.

Per-employee plans are instant — we estimate your footprint using verified regional averages based on your headcount. Best for remote teams, agencies, and service businesses. Custom audits use our calculator to build a precise footprint from your actual energy, travel, and supply chain data. Best for businesses with offices, vehicles, or complex operations. Both paths include the full CarbonCert certification package.

Minutes, not months. Our AI-powered calculator takes around 2 minutes to complete. Once you've chosen your plan and confirmed payment, your certificate, badge, and verification page go live immediately. Per-employee plans are even faster — choose your headcount, pay, and you're certified.

Yes. PPN 06/21 requires UK government suppliers to produce a Carbon Reduction Plan. CarbonCert provides everything procurement teams typically ask for: an ISO-aligned certificate, verified offset documentation with registry serial numbers, a Carbon Reduction Plan, and a public verification page they can check independently. One link, everything verified.

Every business plan includes: an ISO 14064-aligned certificate with a unique certificate number and registry serial numbers, a live trust badge you can embed on your website with one line of code, a public verification page where anyone can independently verify your status, and a dashboard to manage your assets, track your impact, and download reports.

The CarbonCert trust badge is a live-verified widget you embed on your website — similar to a Trustpilot widget, but for carbon neutrality. It updates automatically when you renew and links directly to your public verification page. Installation is a single script tag. Visitors can click it to independently verify your carbon neutral status.

Yes. Your plan renews automatically and we retire fresh credits each year on your behalf. Your certificate number stays the same, but the validity dates and registry serial numbers update. Your badge and verification page always reflect your current status — no manual action needed.

Offsetting

Questions about offsetting your personal or household carbon footprint.

Personal carbon offsetting means funding verified climate projects — like reforestation, renewable energy, or clean water — to compensate for the CO₂ your daily life produces. The average UK individual produces around 5.5 tonnes of CO₂e per year through energy, transport, food, and consumption. Our personal plans retire enough verified credits to cover your footprint.

Personal plans start from £4 per month. We offer plans for individuals, couples, and households. The exact cost depends on how many people you're offsetting and the level of coverage you choose. All plans include verified credit retirement and a personal impact dashboard.

Absolutely. We offer household plans that cover multiple people under a single subscription. You can offset yourself, a partner, and your children — all from one dashboard. The credits are retired proportionally based on the number of people covered.

Yes. Every personal plan includes a downloadable certificate confirming your carbon neutral status, along with details of the projects your credits support. You also get access to your personal impact dashboard where you can see exactly which projects you've funded.

Yes, you can cancel anytime from your dashboard. There are no contracts or lock-in periods. Any credits already retired on your behalf remain permanently retired — cancellation just stops future monthly retirements. Your certificate remains valid for the period already covered.
The Science

Offsetting
& CO₂

How carbon offsetting works, where the credits come from, and why it matters.

A carbon credit represents one tonne of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) that has been either removed from the atmosphere or prevented from being emitted. Credits are generated by verified climate projects — like forest conservation, renewable energy installations, or methane capture — and are tracked on international registries to ensure each tonne is only counted once.

Retiring a carbon credit means permanently removing it from circulation on the issuing registry. Once retired, the credit cannot be sold, transferred, or used again. This is the only way to legitimately claim an offset — simply buying a credit isn't enough. CarbonCert retires every credit on the relevant registry (Verra, Gold Standard, or UNFCCC) with a unique serial number that anyone can verify.

We source credits exclusively from the three largest and most respected carbon registries in the world: Verra (VCS — Verified Carbon Standard), Gold Standard (VER — Verified Emission Reduction), and the UNFCCC (CER — Certified Emission Reduction). These registries independently verify, track, and publicly record every credit and retirement.

Our portfolio includes reforestation and forest conservation (REDD+), renewable energy (wind, solar, hydro), clean cookstove distribution, methane capture from landfills, and clean water projects. Every project is independently audited and verified, and delivers measurable emissions reductions alongside co-benefits aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We understand the concern, and we share it. Offsetting should never replace genuine efforts to reduce emissions. That's why every CarbonCert business plan includes a Carbon Reduction Plan — a commitment to reduce your footprint over time. Offsetting is best understood as a way to take responsibility for emissions you can't yet eliminate, while funding projects that deliver real, measurable climate benefits today.

Every credit we retire is traceable by serial number on the issuing registry's public database. Your certificate and verification page include the registry name, project details, credit serial numbers, and retirement date. Anyone can independently verify your claims — no trust required, just transparency.

These are categories defined by the GHG Protocol. Scope 1 covers direct emissions from sources you own or control (e.g. gas boilers, company vehicles). Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy (e.g. electricity). Scope 3 covers all other indirect emissions in your value chain (e.g. employee commuting, business travel, purchased goods). Our custom audit estimates across all three scopes.

Our AI-powered calculator uses government-approved emission factors from DEFRA (UK), the EPA (US), and the GHG Protocol to estimate your footprint based on your energy usage, travel, workforce, and supply chain. For per-employee plans, we use verified regional averages based on headcount and industry sector.

Our methodology aligns to ISO 14064 (the international standard for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions) and the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard (the most widely used international accounting tool for government and business leaders). Our certificates reference these standards and include full registry documentation.

Yes. From your dashboard, you can browse our project portfolio and allocate your credits to the projects that matter most to you — whether that's reforestation, renewable energy, or community-focused initiatives. Each project page shows its registry, location, methodology, and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. All payments are processed securely and you'll receive an invoice for every transaction. Business customers can manage billing and download invoices directly from their dashboard.

Because carbon credits are permanently retired on your behalf at the point of purchase, we're unable to reverse the retirement process. However, if you have any issues with your plan or billing, please contact us and we'll do our best to help. You can cancel future renewals at any time.

Yes. Our API allows developers to programmatically retire carbon credits, generate certificates, and integrate carbon offsetting into their own products and workflows. If you're interested in API access, please get in touch.
