Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Brighter Planet Inc ("CarbonCert", "we", "our", "us") has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.

CarbonCert is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We are committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within our business or in any of our supply chains.

2

Our Business

CarbonCert is a UK-based technology company that provides carbon footprint calculation, carbon credit retirement, and carbon neutral certification services to businesses and individuals. We operate primarily as a digital platform, providing software-based services through our website and API. Our team is UK-based, and our operations are predominantly digital in nature.

3

Our Supply Chains

Our supply chains primarily consist of:

Carbon credit registries and project developers — we source carbon credits from internationally recognised registries including Verra, Gold Standard, and UNFCCC, which maintain their own rigorous verification and auditing standards.
Technology and infrastructure providers — including cloud hosting, payment processing, and software services, all of which are provided by established companies with their own modern slavery policies.
Professional services — including legal, accounting, and advisory services provided by UK-regulated firms.

Given the nature of our business as a digital platform, we consider the risk of modern slavery within our direct operations to be low. However, we recognise that the carbon credit projects we support operate in regions where modern slavery risks may be elevated, and we take this responsibility seriously.

4

Our Policies

We operate a number of internal policies to ensure we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:

Anti-slavery and human trafficking policy — setting out our commitment to preventing modern slavery and the expectations we place on our staff and suppliers.
Whistleblowing policy — encouraging all employees, contractors, and partners to report concerns about any aspect of our business, including suspected modern slavery, without fear of retaliation.
Code of conduct — setting out the standards of behaviour we expect from all staff and partners in their professional dealings.
5

Due Diligence

As part of our efforts to identify and mitigate the risk of modern slavery, we undertake due diligence when considering new suppliers and regularly review existing suppliers. Our due diligence processes include:

Sourcing carbon credits exclusively from internationally recognised registries (Verra, Gold Standard, UNFCCC) that maintain rigorous project verification standards, including social safeguards and community benefit assessments.
Evaluating potential suppliers and partners for their commitment to ethical labour practices.
Requiring key suppliers to confirm their own compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 where applicable.
Maintaining transparency in our project selection, publishing full project details, registry information, and UN Sustainable Development Goal alignment on our platform.
6

Carbon Credit Projects

We recognise that the carbon offset projects we support operate across multiple jurisdictions, including regions where modern slavery risks may be more prevalent. To mitigate these risks, we:

Only source credits from projects verified by leading international standards that include social safeguard requirements in their methodologies.
Prioritise projects that demonstrate positive community outcomes and alignment with UN SDGs, including SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
Review project documentation for evidence of community engagement, fair labour practices, and grievance mechanisms.
7

Training & Awareness

We ensure that all staff are aware of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and understand their responsibility to report any concerns. Key personnel involved in procurement and supplier management receive appropriate guidance on identifying and addressing modern slavery risks within our supply chains.

8

Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone — employees, partners, suppliers, or members of the public — to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains. Reports can be made by contacting us at [email protected]. All reports will be treated confidentially and investigated thoroughly.
