Why we built this.
The options were bleak. Pay a consultancy £5,000+ for an audit that takes three months. Or buy a cheap certificate from a company that couldn't tell you where the money went. There was nothing in between.
Nothing for the businesses that just wanted to do the right thing and go carbon neutral - and be able to prove it.
So we built CarbonCert. Not as a consultancy — as software. The same DEFRA emission factors and GHG Protocol methodologies that enterprise firms use, but automated and accessible to all. The same registry-grade carbon credits, but purchasable without opening a Verra account yourself. The same verification, but with a public URL instead of a PDF in a filing cabinet.
We're based in the UK, and we use CarbonCert ourselves. Our own emissions are calculated and offset through the same platform our clients use. I think that matters — we're not asking anyone to do something we don't do ourselves. You can view our carbon offset progress at any time.
If you've got questions — about us, or me, or about how this works, or about whether it's right for your organisation — just ask. I'm genuinely happy to talk.
What we believe.
If you can't verify it, it doesn't count. We retire every carbon credit on a public registry with serial numbers. We give every client a verification URL that anyone can check. If we can't prove it happened, we don't claim it did.
Verification shouldn't be priced like a luxury. A company bidding for a government contract has the same PPN 06/21 requirements regardless of headcount. The quality of the verification shouldn't depend on the size of the budget.
Offsetting is step two, not step one. We encourage every client to reduce first. Our audit identifies where your emissions come from so you can cut them — then offset what's left. That's the honest order of operations.
We don't mark our
own homework.
Every credit we retire is verified by one of the world's most recognised independent bodies.
Verra VCS
The world's most widely used voluntary carbon standard. Over 1,900 certified projects across 80+ countries.
Gold Standard
Founded by WWF. Requires projects to demonstrate SDG contributions alongside carbon reductions.
UNFCCC CER
Certified Emission Reductions under the UN's Clean Development Mechanism. Government-grade credibility.
UK Woodland Carbon Code
The UK government's standard for woodland creation. Credits registered on the UK Land Carbon Registry.
Where your funding goes
