Te Apiti Wind Farm in New Zealand
Te Āpiti is a 90 MW wind farm in New Zealand’s North Island, built with 55 Vestas 1.65 MW turbines. It feeds renewable electricity into the national grid and displaces fossil generation, producing consistent, measurable emission reductions.
Registered under Gold Standard ID 338, the project delivers roughly 180,000 VERs each year. Certified impacts include clean-energy expansion, local employment, and direct climate gains through avoided grid emissions.
Developed by Meridian Energy, the project holds government-recognised additionality. It receives ERUs for part of its output, with the remaining eligible generation issued as VERs under Gold Standard.

Gold Standard
Verified StandardThink of the Gold Standard as the "premium, fair-trade, organic" label of the carbon offsetting world. It's known for being one of the strictest and highest-quality standards. To get a Gold Standard certification, a project can't just prove it reduced carbon; it must also prove it contributed to at least three UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This means the project is also doing extra good, like providing clean water, creating new jobs, or protecting wildlife in the local community.
